I don't know how your family runs things, but in my home we have a family calendar white board style that is always visible in our kitchen entryway. It allows Jason and I to add or delete things and always know what is coming up each week. I honestly don't know how we would survive without it. As today is the last day of November, I erased the month and put up December. With Baby J's arrival there are some unknown's but at least we have the basics like pay days, school days and upcoming events.
Attached to the bottom of our white board is an 8 1/2 x 11 calendar that shows the upcoming month. As of today: January. This is handy too so we can see out one full month at any point. When I have a meeting coming up or Jason has a strange work schedule we can see it in advance and plan accordingly. Again, much needed for our family's survival.
I thought you might be interested in starting your own family calendar. A great place for a free download of 2010 can be found here. Just scroll down to the bottom and choose what you need. The beauty of it - you can download it into your Microsoft Word program and do whatever you want with it. I add fun days, colors, fonts - whatever I have time for really.
Try it out for a few months on paper and see if a white board family calendar might be a good fit for your family too!
