Seth on the porch watching the backhoe; still cold enough for parka's unfortunately.Our road is set to be completely redone this summer. As in new sewer lines, sidewalk, parking lane, curbs, the whole thing! We are not so thrilled about the mess which will keep our windows closed on warm summer days and fill our lungs with dust and debris. We are also not thrilled about the assessment to be added to our property or the ten feet less of front yard we will have either.
But then there is Seth who loves to watch big machines.
Yesterday our neighbor across the way needed some work done by Excel Energy, a new gas line was put in to the best of my knowledge. Anyway, they came with a couple huge trucks and a backhoe to get the work done. Seth was so thrilled!
How do we balance our love/hate relationship on this one?!

It does stink to lose your yard and put up with all the inconvenience, but Seth just might remember this for the rest of his life! Think of how few activities you'll have to plan this summer - all he'll want to do is watch.
Oh boy. As soon as you said they were re-doing the street I thought "assessment!!!" but I can only imagine how excited Seth will be! At least you're getting your money's worth....right??
