Just Ducky?
Life in the Johnson house has been crazy lately. The schedule is out of control busy as The Edge (my fifth and sixth grade) church class had a big kick-off event and started a new year. (I am the lead teacher for a class ranging from 25 to 3o students.) On top of all the planning for those we have company in town three out of the four weeks of this month, one of them including two nights camping! Oh and did I mention that I start daycare next week for three kids 2 and under?! Yeah, so mom is a little overwhelmed right now.
All these things are good things that I am happy to have in my life! I guess I just wished they wouldn't have all happened in the course of a few weeks.
Seth seems to be taking it well though. He knows what he needs and finds it for himself. This morning he asked me where the red pillows were from the couch. I told them I put them away while we have company and they were upstairs. I was in the middle of making cookies and washing dishes and ignored the reason for this request.
About five minutes later Seth comes into the kitchen holding the pillow behind him. I ask, "What are you doing with the pillow?" To which he responds, "I am hiding my poop." I had to take a quick double take. As terrible as it sounded, he had filled his diaper but there was no mishap involved. He knows he should be pooping in the potty and therefore I think feels he has to hide it. He has done similar on many occasions. Kind of humorous, huh?
So what is this mother to do? I tried a latte yesterday to give me a boost but it failed miserably. It might have had something to do with the ginormous glazed raised cinnamon roll I downed along with it. All the sugar was too much?! I also tried to take a rest. I laid in bed the other day during nap time and tried to relax my muscles and envision myself on a warm sandy beach with the sun in my face, but alas the sand got stuck between my toes and all I could think about was all that I left in the other room to accomplish. I even tried a massage! My friend Jessica (massage therapist) came to my home during nap time yesterday and I got a half hour rub down. It was glorious, but over way too soon and I was back to the "To Do List". (She is available for hire by the way if you are interested. She has great rates and comes to your metro home!)
So all that to say, I am still in need of some time away from my busy state. How do YOU turn it off when the going gets so crazy?! I would love to know.

Dads are more fun because they are a novelty, unlike mom who they deal with ALL DAY LONG. That is my theory, anyway.
I was thinking about this EXACT SAME THING last night and almost posted the same request on my blog...but I got too caught up in the to-do list and I never quite got to my blog.
So here's me telling myself what I should do...
Work out. Going for a run has an a-m-a-z-i-n-g relaxation factor for me.
Read a book, even for just 30 min.
Cuddle with a certain someone.
Watch a movie (works WONDERS for me...weird!).
Stop, take 3 deep breaths and relax my shoulders.
The problem is that any of my relaxation techniques (ok, except breathing...) take time and the lack of time is what's stressing me out in the first place!! So I also have to calm my brain down to the point that I CAN relax and alas...that's the hardest part. However, I've also found that I'm much more productive when I'm not so stressed.
Well, hopefully this weekend is nothin' but fun and relaxation!! I can't wait!! (but first I need to go grocery shopping, air our the sleeping bags, clear out my trunk, make some cookies..... : ) Can't wait to see you!!
