I am trying to get ready for life with another child. I have one more injection the week of Thanksgiving and then anything goes according to my midwife. That means we could be holding a baby in a couple short weeks! It seems the "To Do" list is endless. So help me please...
1. What do I really NEED to bring to the hospital?
2. What things should I pack for the person who will watch Seth?
3. When do I NEED to get to the hospital anyway? They say second babies come fast - what is your experience?!
4. Oh and how long does it take to get over the exhaustion again? I am wondering if ever at this point...
Thanks for your input. My brain is fried!

1. Toilettries, clothes, phone.
2. Toilettries, clothes, routine/need to know info written down, toys?
3. Can't help you here, I had 2 inductions :)
4. Don't know, still exhausted. But happy!
1. in addition to the above - Camera(s), laptop (if you have one - our family is out of town and appreciate photos ASAP),
2. Call me anal, but in addition to routine, I leave medical info and permission to treat.
3. Katelyn came in 3 1/2 hrs after my water broke and things started up fast and hard!! I was just yelling things out to poor Cliff because I wasn't much good!!
4. 3 months is a turning point for me .. where I have felt more human, etc. But, the exhaustion still continues .. you never really get a rest with multiple kiddos!!
Good luck! Do hope that babe stays within for a while longer. Doing the NICU with the 2nd is NOT FUN - makes it really hard!!
Bring the nursing bra and comfy tops that button...
Alright...I'll try my hand at your questions :)
1. The second time around I brought my own pjs and LOVED being able to change out of the hospital gown into something more comfortable (and my own). I also brought the baby book and actually worked on it a lot at the hospital (not much time for that when you get home and have TWO kids there to care for!).
2. I had Allie help me pack two small favorite toys which really helped with being apart from us overnight. Also, I second the medical/insurance info.
3. Ha! I'm such a chicken that I called the hospital at the first signs of active labor. I think, in the event that we do have a third, I'll wait until it is extremely painful. :)
4. I was pleasantly surprised how much more quickly I recovered from labor/delivery the second time around. I'm not sure this is everyone's experience, but for me it was night and day difference. Although I was still tired from the amount of work it takes to care for a newborn, I was physically feeling better so much sooner the second time around. Everything seemed to heal quicker and I wasn't as sore for as long.
Good luck!
