To My Husband

To my husband, Jason -

I love you! Can you believe that today we celebrate seven years of marriage? I look at the photo and think, "Wow, we were so young!" Does that mean we are old now?! I sure hope not, though I am afraid we are starting to feel it a bit more.

On the day of our wedding the most important thing went right - we were forever wed. Okay, so the picnic reception was a bit silly without the sandwiches showing up until the end and having your spotless Volare covered in chocolate sauce and gummy candy was pretty bad too. But keep in mind we all at plenty to eat and the "Ego Death" recovered, well almost. Remember when we sold it a year later there was still chocolate syrup on the windows when you rolled them down and up? Of course, you remember, sorry to remind you...on to happier things.

Since our marriage in 2001 a lot has changed. We purchased our first car that year and thanks to both of our good paying jobs and overtime paid it off a year later. We moved from our studio apartment in Little Canada to our one bedroom apartment in Roseville. At the time we said it would be the last apartment we would live in and it was. We just didn't expect to live there for five years! Praise the Lord for His provision of our first home last April. You worked so hard to make it our home and now it is hard to imagine living anywhere else.

We've been through the ups and downs that marriage brings. That first year we had too much time together and ever since we have been trying to find a way to make more time together. We started out in our young, enthusiastic puppy love like trance and now there is this deep need for one another. That mature love older married couples talk about and younger ones can't yet begin to understand. We have suffered pain and loss of family members dear to us but also the joy of life when our son, Seth, was born in 2006. There have been days when we could hardly speak to one another because of our anger, usually over something so trivial, and then there are days when I can't bear to part from you. I long all day just to hear your voice and receive that "Honey, I'm home" kiss.

Some people believe that one man and one woman could never satisfy each other for a lifetime. We know that is an absolute lie. I can't imagine sharing my life and my love with anyone other than you! I hope that we have at least seventy-seven more years to share with one another. Perfecting this thing called love and always holding each other dear. May God give us strength to do all that and give Him all the glory and praise!

Happy Anniversary my love!

Your wife, Mandy
