My husband, Jason and I traveled over the weekend to Wilderness Fellowship just the two of us. (This used to be an annual event for us before having a family!) My parents offered to watch Seth in our home so we could enjoy a much needed time away as a couple and officially celebrate our Seventh Wedding Anniversary.
We had a glorious time away. Friday on the way out of town we stopped at Culver's for supper and even splurged on dessert thanks to gift money from family. What fun to eat out without a two year old at your table! The rain made the drive up a little crazy but once we were in our cabin the sound of rain was a great way to start a romantic evening, and weekend.
During our time there we really focus on goals and priorities for the coming year(s) and how we want to run our little family. It is a great time to grow closer to each other and our Maker as we enjoy the lush green countryside and long walks. This year however, the mosquitoes were creating an itch we did not so much enjoy. I think I rubbed off the skin on my knee already just scratching the dozen bites that all ended up in that one place!
Coming home today was bittersweet. We so enjoy our time away as a couple, but there is this little boy at home who is so much a part of who we are we were thrilled to get back to him. He was also thrilled to see us. I love those big squeezes after you are away. Seth just clings on and never lets go.
If anything the time away gave us a chance to form a united front and as we head in to week two of potty training I also feel much more equipped to handle the stress. We highly recommend it to anyone who needs a chance to reclaim their lives!

Oh my gosh, I'm pretty sure I've been to this place for a few retreats many years ago. In the summer and the middle of winter. You are bringing back memories for me. However, I have not put on my wedding dress since our wedding 8 years ago.
I love your idea with your dress!! I hate the thought of just leaving it hanging in a closet. We might have to steal that idea....
Hope week 2 is going a little better!!
