We have met with a physical therapist to get help with Seth's diagnosis for Perthes. She was great and located close by which is handy too. She believes that Seth's range of motion is still very good so for now we have exercises to do two times each day.
Unfortunately it's those things you always "have" to do that are the most frustrating for Seth. You know, like brushing teeth or getting dressed. We are trying to find ways to make it fun for Seth and help him to understand how important they are for his healing process too.
Do you have any ideas for making these "must do" items more fun?! I'd love to hear...

Many years ago I was able to hear a talk given by a music therapist. She talked about working with kids who had been badly burned and how they had to do painful things to recover.
As a music therapist, her job was to help make the unpleasant stuff more bearable - one example was a kid that need to stretch out his elbow as a part of his physical therapy. This was not a pleasant exercise for him, so she had the kid play with a big slide whistle (which used the same motion that the physical therapist wanted the kid to do, and had the added benefit of being "fun" and distracting from the repetition of stretching out his arm 15 times in a row.
All of that to say . . . is there some kind of musical instrument or toy that can be used with Seth's exercises?? Perhaps kicking a toy drum? Or a balloon? Maybe one round of exercises can be a game or competition with Daddy on who kicks a balloon farthest? (or hits the drum most loudly!)
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
