Is It Just Me?!

Is it just me or do our children always pick the most inopportune times to need something?!

Seth has been waking up way too early this week. Let's face it, he is up in the night too and just not a great sleeper overall. In fact, I think we will teach him to take care of the baby in the night since he is up enough anyway.

Sorry, back to my story.

So Seth is running around as I try to finish my morning routine and get in the shower before our day care family arrives. All the little interruptions make everything go so much slower. Finally I am in my happy place: a hot shower. Then the banging on the door, the entrance, the command, "My poop is coming."

My response, "I just put in shampoo can you wait a second?"

Seth, "I can do it myself." After which I hear the potty seat get placed on the potty and peek out of the shower to inspect the situation. As he pulls down his underpants I see a large you know what hanging from his little rear and in slow motion it falls right onto the floor with a audible splat. The floor which I just cleaned this same morning by the way.

I leap out of the shower grabbing my towel in the process and get his precious butt on the seat to prevent further debris. I am sure it looked like one of those dance moves and was beautifully placed. Then again I look like a whale so maybe not. Anyway, while I was barely towel covered and shampoo continually dripped into my eyes, I cleaned up both child and floor.

I crawled back into the shower, my no longer happy place at the moment and pondered what just happened. The usual - our children's need coming before our own. You do what you have to do. Maybe next week he will sleep until seven and I can once again enjoy my happy place without interruption. Then again, maybe not.
