Traveling with a three year old, or any small child, while on your own is an adventure. Their is only so much a child can do in the car before the boredom sets in. In Seth's case, he just wants to eat when he's bored so every ten minutes or less I hear, "Can I have a snack now?" This phrase is of course intermingled with the standard, "Are we there yet?" which really grates on your nerves when you hear it multiple times before even getting on the interstate! We survived the road trip, but I think if it were not for the seatbelts we were both wearing there could have been a few beat downs. (Those go both ways just in case you are unaware. He threw plenty at me from his backseat position to let me know how really felt!)
While "home" Seth had a great time with Gramps and Grandma. There were so many places to go and people to see! I on the other hand had a morning of rest to myself, thank you very much! I also got to spent some quality time with my sister which usually takes an act of God as we are always so busy. My favorite was just being home. There is something about being able to spend time in the home I grew up in, laying in the sun in the backyard I learned to walk and run in, seeing how the trees and landscape have changed so much since I lived their on a daily basis. It always makes me a bit nostalgic.
Here are some pics of the good times had by all:
One of Seth's favorite things to do is visit RDO Equipment Company with Gramps. On this particular day he got to climb all over some BIG equipment much to his pleasure.
Again at RDO, Seth in a skid steer, one of his favorite pieces of equipment!
The Bruhn family, my parents neighbors and friends, found a bike for Seth to grow into this summer. He was shocked to get a bike with TWO wheels!
Gramps took Seth for a spin around the back yard. With a few adjustments he may just get the hang of this sooner than I thought!
Grandma got a turn pushing Seth around too. I love this photo the most becuase you can see the apple trees in full bloom. I loved our backyard as a kid and that has not changed a bit to this day!Okay, so you may have noticed that all these bike photos are missing two things: concrete and a helmet. Let's just say we were taking it easy and making it extra safe as it was the first time Seth has sat on a two wheel bike before. Now that we have the bike at home Seth will ALWAYS wear a properly fitting bike helmet (which he has had since he was one) and more than likely long pants to help protect from the falls.
FYI: Any advice on teaching a child to ride a bike would be greatly appreciated!
