Dinner and Dogs

While Jason was away from home last night I decided it was a good time to talk to Seth about his Dad's upcoming birthday. Here is how our conversation went:

"What do you think we should get Dad for his birthday?"
With enthusiasm, "We need to make cupcakes!"
"Yes, we can do that."
"Do we have any cake mix? I can help."
"Yes, we do have cake mix, but what kind of present should we buy for him?"
"We should get him a dog."
While trying not to spew forth my soup in surprise, "A dog?"
"Daddy really likes Golden Retreivers!" which is certainly true.
After a pause, "Yes, but dogs are a lot of work to take care of and we don't have much space to put one either."
Seth acts as though he is thinking about that and then, "I need more goldfish crackers for my soup."

Conversation over and J mom left puzzled as usual. It is amazing how we can have these normal conversations, as in, Seth can say full sentences and be easily understood. What laughs at the same time too. I was expected the answer to be tools of course. You never know where your little one's brain is going to take you!

This photo is so cute it actually makes me long for the day when we do buy a little Golden Retriever. I even have the name picked out so it should be no surprise to me that Seth understands our desire to have one someday.

PS - I am sorry Jason but we will NOT be buying you a dog for your Birthday. I think we will have to come up with something else.
