Oh Christmas Tree

Our 2008 Balsam Fir Christmas Tree. I realize a night shot would be better, but I just couldn't wait to share it with you!

So everyone keeps talking about "going green" for the holidays. We ALWAYS get a real tree. I can't imagine it any other way. I love the smell! It's a total mess and you vaccum every day at least once, but it's only for a couple weeks once a year. My type A personality can handle that. In fact, I look forward to it every year.

The house is now in full decor and the tree is trimmed and smelling up the whole house with it's fresh pine scent. It is beautiful. I find myself singing Christmas carols at all times and of course humming through the verses I can't seem to remember. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere you go....la, la, la, la, la, la, la....

We have never purchased anything for our tree other than lights. I prefer white, by the way, and blinking is NOT allowed so don't even think of telling Seth that is an option. We have a very random assortment of ornaments that have all been given to us as gifts over the years. Here are a few of my favorites up close.

This small shepherd boy carries the message: "Who else would think of sending a Message wrapped in swaddling clothes?" I just love it!

This one is large and always takes a prominent place towards the top of the tree so I can be reminded of it's special message: "Follow Him".

Just for grins, here is a blast from Christmas past:

Seth and J mom in 2006 in our matching sweaters on Christmas eve. The years may fly by but Christmas is always the same for us: Jesus in the reason for the season!

I assume you are referring to Seth's jowls. Pretty funny how chubby he was and now he is skinny as a rail!

I'm a real-tree person too. I LOVE the smell, and going to pick one out (from good ol' Home Depot!) in the freezing cold.

Ok, so I don't actually enjoy the freezing cold. But I DO enjoy trying to figure out which of the pancake-flat trees will thaw out and actally be 3D. : )

And SUPER cute picture! WOW, Seth has really grown up!!
