Seth has become obsessed with toe jam in the last few weeks. He got new socks for his birthday and we were in need so he started wearing them right away. Well, you know how new socks are - major toe jam until a few washings take place. (Don't worry, I do know to wash before you wear.)
After two nights of taking off his socks to get in the bathtub and seeing all the fuzz as he played in the water, he started to figure out is was coming from his socks and toes. Another day or two later he starts taking off his socks before getting into the tub and picking out a pile of toe jam to leave on the bathroom rug.
Next day I give him a two minute "break," let's face it, time out, in the corner. When I peek around from the kitchen where I am making lunch I see him with both socks off intently picking out a pile of toe jam! So much for punishment, but it did change the tempo of the moment. We both had a hearty laugh over the toe jam and got back to playing.
Now is has escalated to random times during the day where he plops down in the middle of something, anything and starts picking toe jam. He can't seem to control himself. It is almost definable as an addiction! Even more hilarious, if we are sitting reading a book or mom is playing on the floor he will randomly remove MY socks to look for toe jam. You can't help but laugh when he sticks his little fingers in between your toes!
I find this habit to be hilarious and figure it'll only last as long as the new socks provide fuzz, which won't be too much longer. The only problem is when Tate, our daycare kid, comes across a pile of toe jam on the carpet, he eats it!

haha! It is so funny what kids become "obsessed" with!
This has nothing to do with this post, but keep the book recomendations coming! I hadn't heard about the new Dekker yet, but when I checked, it's already in at the St. Paul libraries.
